Guide – Corrals Screen in IdeasFarm
The Corrals screen allows for organized control of intensive and specialized cattle management areas. Here you can view, register, and manage areas such as feedlots, maternity, quarantine, or infirmary, among others.
Overview
- Code: Unique identification of the corral in the system.
- Corral: Assigned name for the area (e.g., Feedlot 1, Infirmary, Maternity).
- Area (ha): Area of the corral in hectares.
- State: The corral is in use and available to assign animals.
- Batch: Group or category of animals occupying the corral (e.g., Fattening, Weaning, Infirmary).
Main Functions
- Quick search: Filter corrals by name, code, or batch, speeding up the location of information.
- State management: Activate or deactivate corrals based on actual availability on the farm. This reflects the rotation of spaces (e.g., enable Maternity only during calving season).
- Classification of uses: Each corral can have a specific use that helps organize the farm:
- Integration with animal management: Animals can be linked directly to a batch from the corrals, maintaining the productive and health history of each group.
Practical Benefits
- Have an updated inventory of corrals with their status and capacity.
- Control sanitary use (quarantine, infirmary, maternity).
- Plan feedlot or fattening area occupancy more efficiently.
- Improve biosecurity by separating batches based on productive or health status.
This screen functions as the perfect complement to the pastures, as while the pastures focus on extensive grazing and forage rotation, the corrals are geared towards intensive and controlled animal group management.
