Reports > Animals > General Evaluations
This report is the most comprehensive in IdeasFarm, as it gathers all evaluation dimensions in a single dashboard.
It is updated every 21 days, ensuring continuous and dynamic herd analysis.
The report combines:
- Absolute values per animal.
- Herd average.
- Individual differences.
1. Check Each Animalβs Z-score in IdeasFarm
Definition: Statistical measure indicating how many standard deviations a cowβs value is from the herd average.
Interpretation:
- Z > 0 β animal above average (positive performance).
- Z = 0 β animal at average.
- Z < 0 β animal below average (alert).
Usefulness: Quickly identifies outstanding and lagging animals for each indicator.
2. Value Difference
Definition: Difference between the cowβs individual value and the herd average.
Usefulness:
- Shows how much each cow contributes or subtracts in milk liters, fertility, health, etc.
- Quantifies the economic and technical impact of the animals.
3. Evaluation Areas Included
The report groups indicators into blocks:
- Production: milk liters, 305-day adjusted production, persistence, lactation peak, pasture conversion.
- Fertility and Reproductive Health: services per conception, open days, abortions, retained placenta, ovarian cysts.
- Health: metritis, endometritis, mastitis, somatic cell count.
- Body Condition (BCS): energy status scores.
- Management: protocol compliance, records.
- General Health (HT): diagnosed diseases, treatments applied.
- Linear Conformation (L): morphological traits associated with longevity and productive functionality.
4. Interpreting Tables and Charts
- Tables: show values per animal, herd average, difference, and Z-score.
- Charts: distribute Z-scores, helping visualize herd concentration ranges.
π Example: a group of cows with Z > +1 in production β productive elite; cows with Z < -1 β low performance.
5. Herd Average
Definition: Baseline representing average performance in each indicator.
Usefulness: Allows the producer to compare each cow against the real standard of their own herd (not external data).
π Quick Glossary
- Evaluation every 21 days: frequency of calculation for continuous monitoring.
- Value difference: positive or negative contribution of each cow relative to the herd.
- 305-day adjusted production (P305): comparison of normalized lactations.
- Lactation persistence: ability to maintain production after peak.
π How to Use This Report in Practice
- Analyze global Z-scores β identify elite cows (> +1) and at-risk cows (< -1).
- Review value differences β detect which animals contribute most in liters, fertility, or profitability.
- Evaluate indicator blocks:
- Production β select cows for genetics.
- Reproduction β correct fertility problems.
- Health β prioritize treatments or culling.
- Linear β select cows with better conformation for longevity.
- Make management decisions:
- Retain high-value animals.
- Improve feeding/reproduction in lagging cows.
- Plan culling for cows with multiple negative indicators.
