Reports > Animals > Health > Indicators Monitor

This dashboard centralizes the herd’s health information: diseases, treatments, costs, and mortality. Proper interpretation allows you to detect health problems early, assess their economic impact, and strengthen prevention.

1. Sick Animals During the Period

Definition: Total number of animals that presented a recorded disease in the selected period.

Target: Ideally maintain < 5% of the total.

Usefulness

Indicates the magnitude of active health problems in the farm.

Example: 100 cows, 5 sick β†’ 5% affected.

2. Recovery Rate (%)

Definition: Proportion of sick animals that successfully recovered after treatment.

Formula: (Recovered Animals Γ· Sick Animals) Γ— 100

Target: > 90%.

Usefulness

Measures the effectiveness of treatments and veterinary protocols.

Example: 10 sick, 9 recovered β†’ 90%.

3. Total Registered Diseases

Definition: Total number of health diagnoses in the period.

Usefulness

Helps quantify the disease burden (the same animal may have multiple conditions).

4. Mortality Rate (%)

Definition: Proportion of dead animals relative to the total herd during the period.

Formula: (Dead Animals Γ· Total Animals) Γ— 100

Target: < 2% per year.

Usefulness

Assesses the lethal impact of diseases.

Example: 3 deaths in 150 animals β†’ 2%.

5. Disease Coverage (%)

Definition: % of the herd that presented at least one disease during the period.

Formula: (Sick Animals Γ· Total Animals) Γ— 100

Target: < 10%.

Usefulness

Allows evaluating the spread of health problems in the herd.

6. Diseases (Percentage Distribution)

Definition: Classification of recorded diagnoses (e.g., mastitis, diarrhea, pneumonia).

Usefulness

Shows which diseases are predominant and guides prevention and vaccination plans.

7. Diseases by Month

Definition: Cases recorded each month.

Usefulness

Helps identify seasonal patterns or specific outbreaks.

Example: Peaks during rainy season β†’ strengthen biosecurity.

8. Treatments per Quarter

Definition: Number of treatments applied each quarter.

Usefulness

Evaluates frequency and need for veterinary intervention.

9. Treatment Costs

Definition: Total monthly expenditure on treatments.

Usefulness

Controls the economic impact of health on profitability.

10. Average Treatment Cost per Animal

Definition: Ratio between medicine costs and number of animals treated.

Formula: Total Cost Γ· Number of Animals Treated

Usefulness

Makes it easier to compare economic efficiency across periods.

11. Morbidity (%)

Definition: % of animals that got sick during the period.

Formula: (Sick Animals Γ· Total Animals) Γ— 100

Target: < 10%.

Usefulness

Assesses the general health risk level of the herd.

12. Monthly Mortality (%)

Definition: % of deaths month by month.

Usefulness

Helps detect critical months or issues in treatments.

13. Animals Dead per Month

Definition: Absolute number of deaths each month.

Usefulness

Reinforces interpretation of monthly mortality.

14. Group Mastitis

Definition: Results from subclinical tests (e.g., CMT: negative, traces, positive).

Usefulness

πŸš€ How to Use This Dashboard in Practice

  1. Check overall health status (sick animals, recovery, mortality).
  2. Identify the most common diseases and assess seasonal outbreak patterns.
  3. Monitor health costs and compare them with recovery benefits.
  4. Review monthly morbidity and mortality to observe improvement or deterioration trends.
  5. Evaluate group mastitis to maintain milk quality under control.
